Zante is one of those Greek islands that lives up to the idealised image that many people have of holidays in Greece. There are gorgeous sandy beaches and the sea that surrounds the island is sparkling and crystal clear.
The island is also known as Zakynthos and it’s the third largest of the Ionian islands, which are located in the Ionian Sea.
Of course, there is a huge selection of accommodation. A stone’s throw from the beach and only a five minute walk from the resort centre, the Galaxy Hotel in Laganas offers great all-inclusive accommodation for families and couples alike.
The hotel is set in beautiful gardens, yet is only 20m from the beach. The all-inclusive deal includes buffet meals at breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as unlimited ice-cream for the kids during the day time. There are also snacks available at certain periods during the day, and local wine, beer and spirits are available throughout the day.
As for what to do while you’re in Zante, there’s plenty of stuff going on. You just have to decide what to do first. One of the main draws of Laganas is the lively clubbing scene – this is definitely the place to stay if you want to party.
And when you feel like a change of scene away from the beautiful beaches, you can hire a jeep and go off exploring the island. You’ll see some amazing scenery and pass through some beautiful little villages. It’s a great island to explore and along the way, you might want to visit the Dragon Cave in Mouzaki, the monastery of Eleftheotia and the old town of Zante. An alternative way to see some of the beautiful countryside is by going horseriding.
Down by the sea, you can take part in a huge range of water sports – from sailing and windsurfing to jetskiing and scuba diving. And when you want water fun but with a break from the sand, Zante has three different water parks, each with great slides and rides.
Depending on how you spend your time in Zante, you could come back feeling relaxed or refreshed, or worn out from having too much fun!
